Director / Managing Director: Investment Banking
Burke Stelling Group is looking for a Director or Managing Director to supplement our investment banking practice in a new coverage territory. The territory will be one or more states contiguous to, or complementary with, our existing Southeast footprint.
This is a senior, entrepreneurial role. You will own both origination and execution in your territory, serving as the firm’s face to bank boards and executives while drawing on the full platform and deal team in Atlanta. Securities activity is conducted through our affiliated broker-dealer, BSG Securities, LLC (member FINRA/SIPC).
If interested, please contact us at careers@burkestelling.com with your resume.
Roles / Responsibilities
- Build and maintain trusted relationships with bank CEOs, CFOs, boards of directors, and investors, serving as a long-term strategic advisor rather than a transaction-only contact
- Originate new M&A and capital markets mandates across the assigned territory, primarily with community banks and other financial services businesses
- Lead execution of sell-side and buy-side M&A, mergers of equals, branch sales and acquisitions, and capital raises from pitch through closing
- Present to boards and special committees on strategic alternatives, valuation, deal opportunities, and capital planning
- Develop and manage a pipeline of prospective clients, including regular in-person calling across the territory
- Raise the firm’s profile in the territory through state banking association events, industry conferences, speaking, and published insights for the firm’s newsletter
- Mentor and direct analysts and associates on live engagements, reviewing models, pitch materials, and board presentations
- Comply with FINRA rules and BSG Securities policies on all securities-related activity
Experience / Credentials
- 8+ years of investment banking experience with a focus on depository institutions or financial services
- A demonstrated record of personally originating and leading closed transactions, such as bank M&A and capital raises
- An established network of bank executives, directors, and investors in the target state or states
- Strong command of bank financial statements, regulatory capital, credit quality, and bank valuation methods
- FINRA Series 79 and Series 63 licenses (or equivalents)
- Bachelor’s degree in Banking, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field
- Experience presenting to boards of directors and leading negotiations with counterparties
- Based in or near Atlanta preferred; willingness to travel regularly within target area
